The Family Theater was created from the Kirkwood Hotel and became a cinema in 1914. After the theater began showing adult films, angry residents forced the theater to change its name to the Follies. The theater was destroyed in a fire which started during a showing of "Deep Throat" on July 26, 1973, and was razed a month later.
