Information for this tour was contributed by John Feis. The Brookfield Square Cinema was originally built as a single wide-screen facility with a capacity of approximately 1400. It was divided in the 1970s into two theaters of nearly equal size. Cinema I was the larger with a capacity of 512. Cinema 2 was slightly smaller at 510.
Architecturally, the design was fairly simple, both theaters (and the original) had a projection booth on the second floor approximately 12 feet above the back row. The theater seating was all on one floor, with the floor sloping downwards toward the screen.
The theater was run by General Cinema Corporation from its inception until its closing.
