Information for this tour was contributed by Jeff Carlson & Darren Snow.

The Bellevue opened on August 29, 1948, and the first film it showed was "Pirates of Monterey". Original capacity was 750 cars, but by 1960 the facility had expanded enough to accompany 1,400 cars, making it the largest outdoor theater in downstate Illinois at the time.

In its later years, the Bellevue specialized in R- and X-rated fare. It burned in the late 1970s and was replaced with a K-mart that also went out of business.
