Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe. Built on the site of the magnificent 2,400 seat Regal cinema (1928-1964), the new Odeon boasted the largest screen in the United Kingdom measuring 75ft wide, 30ft high with a deep curve of 17ft. Seating was provided in stalls and circle areas and it played mainly 70mm roadshow presentations initially. In 1996 it was closed and the interior was gutted. It re-opened in January 1997 as a 5 screen cinema which has a total seating capacity of 931.
