Information for this tour was contributed by Ken Roe.

The Westlake Theatre is located in the Downtown area of Macarthur Park (originally Westlake Park until re-named after General Douglas Macarthur in 1942) and it is situated directly opposite the park on busy S Alvarado St.

Built by West Coast-Langley Theatres it still has the huge roof sign sporting the name of the theatre which continues to light up at night after being restored several years ago. The wording West Coast was removed from the sign when Metropolitan Theatres operated it during its latter years when it showed Spanish language movies.

Since closure it has been converted into a 'Swap Meet' market and the main stalls floor has been levelled, but the interior of theatre is still intact above the bright lights of the market stalls.
