Information for this tour was contributed by Charles Van Bibber. The Cross Keys was built and operated by the St. Louis Amusement Co./Arthur Theatres chain until the Arthur chain went out of business. It originally operated as a day and date theatre with one of the Grand Ave. or downtown movie palaces. It later was first run on its own and then became a discount theatre when the Arthur Chain became financially strapped. It seated 1061 and was a single floor theatre. The layout was very similar to its sister theatres, the Lewis and Clark on Halls Ferry and the St. Ann Cinema in St. Ann, Mo.
