September 1948 photo from the Ukiah Redwood Journal collection.

Here stand the men who built the elaborate new Ukiah Theatre. When it was opened to the public Wednesday night, September 8, they came out on the stage and sang a pleasantly wacky version of Happy Birthday, in honor of George Mann, the owner. They are, from left to right: Charley Haun, contractor; Melvin Tingley, chief projectionist; Ray Farley, Norton Fautz, Otto Severin, technical experts; Edward Doyle, RCA sound engineer; Joe Maniaci, assistant architect and decorator; and Clifford W. Morris, executive engineer.
